Cooking shepherd’s pie:
Step 1: prepare the potatoes.Using a knife, peel the potatoes and immediately after that thoroughly rinse the ingredient under running water. We spread the vegetable on a cutting board and cut it into small pieces. Spread the chopped potatoes in a deep plate or medium bowl and fill with ordinary water. This must be done so that while we grind the remaining potatoes, the potato slices do not darken. After the whole potato ingredient has been chopped, transfer it to a medium pan and again fill it with fresh plain water so that the liquid completely covers the vegetable. We put on medium heat and wait for the water to begin to boil. Attention: the resulting foam from the potato on the surface of the liquid must be removed with a slotted spoon. After boiling water, make the fire less than average, cover the container with a lid and cook the potatoes for 30-35 minutes. At the end of the allotted time, turn off the burner and, holding the pan with the kitchen pots slightly open, cover, pour some of the water into the cup. The rest of the water can be poured into the sink. And now, using a pusher, grind the boiled potatoes to a puree consistency. Then add 1 tablespoon butter, 1/2 part of the potato liquid in a cup, salt and black pepper to taste. Mix everything again, using a pusher or a tablespoon. Set the mashed potatoes aside to cool to room temperature.

Step 4: prepare the celery.A celery stalk will give our dish a pleasant aroma. Therefore, we wash the ingredient under running water and put it on a cutting board. Finely chop the celery into pieces, using all the same sharp inventory. Shredded component is transferred to a plate with other chopped vegetables.
Step 5: prepare the filling of the dish.Pour vegetable oil into a deep pan with a thick bottom or in a cast-iron cauldron and put on medium heat. When the oil warms up, put the chopped vegetables in a container and mix everything well with a wooden spatula. After that, make the fire less than average and simmer the vegetables for 15 minutes until carrots, onions and celery are soft. Attention: do not forget to stir everything with a spatula from time to time so that the ingredients do not burn on one side. After the allotted time, put the soft minced meat into the pan and again mix everything well with a spatula until the meat ingredient mixes well with the vegetable frying. Again we make a medium fire and, occasionally stirring with the improvised inventory, we extinguish the filling for 5 minutes until the minced meat changes its pinkish red color to brown. Then, holding one handle of the pan with a kitchen tack, slightly tilt the container so that the juice with fat that formed during the preparation of the filling can drain. With the other hand, using a wooden spatula, move the pan to the other side and hold the vegetable-meat mixture. And now, using a tablespoon, scoop the juice and fat from the pan into the bowl, since this liquid is not useful for us to prepare the filling. Now, in order to make our filling more viscous and dense, pour the flour into the container and mix everything well with a tablespoon or spatula. Make the fire less than average and simmer the filling for 2-4 minutes, stirring from time to time again. After, add the meat broth and spices - dried thyme and rosemary to the mixture. We cook, stirring from time to time the components of the dish with improvised equipment, for 5 minutes until the whole broth is completely evaporated, and the filling does not thicken. Attention: at the end, you can add a little salt and pepper to the filling, not forgetting that we already added salt and black pepper to the potatoes. When the filling is ready, pour it into a baking dish and evenly level it with a spatula or spoon over the entire area of the mold.
Step 6: prepare the shepherd’s pie.
Step 7: serve the shepherd’s pie.As the dish is ready, turn off the oven and, using the oven gloves, take the cake out of the oven to cool for 10 minutes. Immediately after this, the dish can be served with hot tea or coffee. It is also very tasty to enjoy a piece of shepherd’s pie with kefir. Good appetite!

- - In the filling, after it is ready, you can add finely chopped parsley. This will give the cake an extra aroma of freshness.
- - If you don’t have meat broth at hand, do not be discouraged. It can be replaced with the remaining potato liquid, which can be diluted with a small amount of water and with one chicken cube.
- - If you are not a fan of lamb or beef, then the filling can be prepared with the addition of minced chicken.
